Stevens - Mae Jones

COLFAX – Mrs. Mae Stevens, 66, of Colfax died at 5:15 a.m. Thursday in Clinton County Hospital at Frankfort after a sudden illness. She had lived most of her life at Colfax and was a member of Colfax Christian Church. Born in Montgomery County at Bowers Station on May 10, 1910, she was a daughter of Calvin and Mary Etta Lowe Jones. She married Elmer R. Stevens on Jan. 19, 1927. He died May 3, 1966, Surviving are four sons, Richard C. of Rt. 3, Sheridan, Lloyd C. of Thorntown, Maurice “Chub” of Colfax and Joseph of Bloomington, Ill.; a sister, Mrs. Nellie Harris of New Ross; a brother, Hubert C. Jones of Spencer; 18 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A son, James Calvin, died in 1974. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Colfax Christian Church with the Rev. James Saunders officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery. The body will lie in state in the church for one hour prior to services. Friends may call at Williams Funeral Home at Colfax. – jlr
